On December 14, the Federal Reserve raised its key interest rate by 50 basis points. This was the first slowdown in the rise in rate hikes in 2022; between March and November 2022, interest rates had risen 25 basis points, 50 basis points, and then 75 points four times in a row between each Federal Reserve meeting.
In a summary of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting on January 4, 2022, the committee indicated that “a number of participants stressed that it would be important to communicate clearly that a slowdown in the rate of rate increases was not an indication of any weakening of the Committee’s determination to achieve its price stability objective or a judgment that inflation was already on a sustained downward path.”
Meanwhile, OTC Markets Group Inc.s OTCM markets reported a decrease in total monthly volume compared to last month, with $32.1 billion taken in December compared to $36.3 billion in November. However, the regulated markets saw a jump in trading volume in the OTCQB Venture Market.

GTBIF, Trulieve Cannabis Corporation (OTCQX: TCNNF) and Heineken NV HEINIG instead of Deutsche Telekom AG DTEGYComputer Services Inc. and Zurich Insurance Group ZURVY.
Computer Services was acquired and is no longer a publicly traded company.

The OTCQB Venture Market: A “battle” for the top 10
The OTCQB Venture Market recorded $689.4 million in trading volume in December, a slight increase from November’s $652.4 million in trading volume.
Like the OTCQX Best Market, the OTCQB Venture Market’s top 10 most active list for the month saw new entries. specifically, CytoDyn Inc. CYDY reappears in the top 10 most active list and bounces back from the November drop-off. Additionally, Renewable Innovations, Inc. REII (back in the days NESTBUILDER.COM CORP. NBLD), a digital media and marketing services company, entered the top 10 most active people. The two move Clean Vision Corporation CLNV and AtlasLithium Corporation ATLXboth of which were listed in November.
